Vertical Pin Inserter IPV for High-Precision and Scalable Pin Placement
With the Vertical Pin Inserter IPV, Eberhard AG is expanding its portfolio with a high-performance solution for automated pin insertion in electronics manufacturing. The system is designed for production environments that demant t he highest levels of process stability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
The vertical machine design enables particularly space-saving integration into existing production lines and combines high throughput with a compact machine architecture. The IPV achieves up to 220 insertion operations per minute and ensures consistently high process quality even at maximum cycle rates thanks to mechanically cam-controlled insertion head. Integrated force measurement ensures the quality of the assembled boards by reliably detecting faulty assembly and marking it as NOK. At the same time, it supports reproducible insertion processes and ensures continuous process monitoring.
The system is designed for various PCB pin types and can be reconfigured according to the specific application. It processes standard PCB pins in single and multiple placements. A 180-degree pin rotation enables flexible processing of complex PCB layouts, while an optional vacuum gripper protects delicate PCB surfaces.
Scalable platform for modern electronics manufacturing
The scalable machine concept allows for the expansion from one to multiple insertion heads without changing the base machine. The system is complemented by camera-based hole and fiducial detection with automatic offset correction, servo-electric PCB positioning, and automatic width adjustment. The IPV processes PCB formats ranging from 100x100 mm to 400x400 mm with a maximum component height of 40 mm on both sides.
With this combination of dynamics, precision, and modular expandability, the system offers a future-proof platform for cost-effective and flexible pin insertion in modern electronics manufacturing.
